THE DONKEYS OF THE HEARTIs a 501(C)(3) organization providing therapeutic and educational opportunities to children, adolescents, and adults with cognitive, mental, and behavioral challenges. This includes the at-risk community and military populations.
What we do
Our Services
Equine (Donkey) Therapy
All sessions are conducted by a mental health professional, an Equine Mental Health Specialist. We use ground-based activities to focus on emotional and mental health.
Donkey Rescue
We are a rescue organization that rehabilitates, and re-home and take care of our donkeys 24/7/365. We provide medical attention, training, and care for donkeys in need.
volunteer driven
We depend on volunteers to work hand-in-hand with our staff and Equine Mental Health Specialist to help feed, provide medical attention and tend to our herd of donkeys.

Since 2019 we have been providing life-changing therapy, rescuing donkeys and providing full time care for the herd that makes our mission possible.

SCHEDULE: EFP or EAL Therapy Session.
Our Equine (Donkey) Facilitated Psychotherapy (EFP) or Equine (Donkey) Assisted Learning (EAL) promotes personal exploration and behaviors. The sessions are conducted by a mental health professional, an ESMHL (Equine Mental Health Specialist and Learning).

Our 7 Donkeys provide Equine Assisted Services to children and adults with cognitive and behavioral challenges. We are compensated for Equine Assisted Services, but it is not enough to cover the costs to take proper care of our 7 precious donkeys, 3 of whom were rescued from unfortunate circumstances.
